Ubuntu with Mac Theme

After upgrading to Hardy Heron, I have been tweaking my Ubuntu setup. I am quite pleased with getting it look like MacOS. (Click on the above thumbnail for a larger image).

Basically, there were just three changes:

  1. Avant Windows Navigator
  2. OSX-theme
  3. Setting up the Fonts to Lucida family

Working on such a setup does make it feel a lot comfortable. Apple does seem to invest in R&D of usability.

After the release of version 8 of the linux distribution, Ubuntu, a couple of days back, we have a lot of posts going around with 'Top x Software for Ubuntu'.

One of them, which I felt agreeing to was by Shankar Ganesh (Five Softwares to Install in Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron).

To be frank, such posts does not make any sense if you are going to follow them word to word. A set of software, about what you are going to install, is directly dependent on the kind of work you do. Just install what you want and skip what you don't want. That is the beauty of Linux - it is flexible.

But such posts do help you become aware of the softwares that you might want to consider for download and install.
