KalaaLog.com First Year Performance

Though KalaaLog.com started on 14-Feb-2007, I felt like doing the first year traffic analysis because it passed a milestone.

Milestone

Before I get to the analysis, the milestone is - 500+ visits and 1000+ pageviews on 30-Jan-2008.

The analysis below is from 1-Feb-2007 to 31-Jan-2008.

Entrance Breakup

I am pretty glad that the Referring Sites rather than Search Engines take up a larger share because that means, I am ont too dependent on the Search Engine market giant - Google.

Further analysis on the amount of traffic driven by different Search Engines, makes it evident that Google is almost the sole traffic driver to my sites.

Pixel2Life drives traffic to the tutorials I post about GIMP and Inkscape. I do write them so that people using other software can use them, but it gets easily categorized there under those software sections. InkscapeTutorials too focuses on Inkscape only tutorials.

Notably, about 10% of the referral traffic is from the Image search of the search engine giant, Google.

I would also like to make note of StumbleUpon and LoreleiWeb Forum. It is interesting to note that, the community where I participate drives almost as much traffic as StumbleUpon. Of course, I was a LoreleiWeb Forum regular way back before StumbleUpon picked KalaaLog.com up couple of months ago.

The data says it all. Even though Yahoo has considerable traffic to itself as opposed to Google, it is quite natural that it sends less traffic to KalaaLog compared to Google because it provides some content itself - at least up until recently, they were featuring less of external site content. Google on the other hand, is more focused on search engine which is nothing but content from external sites.

 I feel a bit of pity for those searching for pirated photoshop. It appears twice in top 10 list. KalaaLog.com in no way endorses piracy. On the contrary, it advocates against piracy and use of Open Source software as an alternative option.

Now, it is just a wait and watch for how 2008 fares for KalaaLog.
